The other independents
Four or five studios within walking distance, competing for the same early and evening slots.
Spark Radius · Locations
Local SEO for Melbourne gyms, reformer studios and strength gyms: class-name and suburb rankings, timetable-driven posting, and reviews answered in 24 hours.
The search is not gym near me. It is reformer pilates in South Yarra before work, and with local SEO for Melbourne gyms the studio whose timetable and trial offer are legible gets the booking.
The short version
Timetable-driven search where the class name and the instructor carry the reviews.
Where you are looked up
A Melbourne studio competes inside the distance a member will travel before work, which along the tram lines is short and along the ring roads is longer. In South Yarra or Brunswick that means four or five genuine competitors, all offering something close to the same timetable, all sitting between 4.6 and 4.9 on Google. The star rating separates nobody. What separates them is whether the profile names the classes, shows the actual room, and answers reviews in a voice that sounds like the person at the front desk.
The chains and franchise gyms are the loud part of the field and the easiest to take discovery searches from. Their listings tend to carry the brand rather than the suburb, stock photography rather than the room, and replies written to a template. Where the independents lose is consistency. A burst of posting in January, a challenge in March, then silence until the following summer, which reads to Google exactly the way it reads to a member.

National budgets, local listings nobody tends. Their profiles rarely name the suburb they are in.
Owning the access and price searches. They almost never contest class-name searches.
Useful for filling off-peak classes, poor at producing members who stay past the trial.
Class name plus suburb is where the intent is. Generic gym terms go to the chains, and chasing them is a waste of a small budget.
The searches with a person and a credit card behind them, and the ones most studios never build a page for.
Decided entirely by hours and attributes on the profile. Listing staffed hours instead of access hours loses all of them.
The bottom of the funnel, and the offer has to be visible on the profile as well as the page it links to.
For a studio the useful review names an instructor and a class. Those are what a reader deciding between two rooms on the same street actually reads, and they are what AI assistants quote when somebody asks for a recommendation. A page of five-star reviews that say nothing converts worse than a handful that describe the 6am class properly.
Timing does most of the work. A request sent the day somebody joins produces a rating. One sent after five classes produces a paragraph. And the Australian Consumer Law line holds: no free month for a five-star review, no asking only the members who look pleased, no quietly hiding the review from somebody who cancelled.
The one that ranks the studio and the one prospective members read first.
In-app ratings, invisible to Google, and read closely by anyone comparing timetables.
Where a Melbourne studio community lives, and the social proof a prospect checks after the reviews.
Mostly the chains, and they surface on brand searches when somebody goes looking.
The gap worth closing for a studio is between what is on the timetable and what a prospective member can see. The Command Centre turns the week into scheduled Google posts, keeps the trial offer current on the profile, and every review gets a reply within 24 hours in the studio’s voice. It runs on a twelve-week plan, so the studio is still posting in July.
New timetables, new instructors and challenge intakes published where people searching for a class will see them.
The trial on the profile and the trial on the page kept in step, so nobody arrives asking for something you retired.
A reply in your voice within 24 hours, and a draft for approval on every 1 and 2-star review.
Spark Radius opened in October 2026, so there is no Melbourne result to show you yet and we will not dress one up. These are June 2026 monthly reports from clients outside Australia, run on the system and by the team you would get.
A fitness studio · June 2026
Sixty-five Google reviews, all five stars, first on Maps for its main search, and named in 8 of the 20 AI searches we ran for it.
A wellness and recovery studio · June 2026
First on Google Maps for 10 of the 14 searches it ranks for, with a profile 100% complete and 555 direction requests in the month.
Each figure is what the account measured in that month, not a before and after. Australian case studies go up as the first clients here reach their own numbers.

On the call we go through your Google profile, your website and what AI tools say about you, then tell you which plan fits.
The four Australian verticals we work in, each with its own competitive set and its own searches.
Groups running venues across the inner north and inner south, where each strip is its own market.
Tram-corridor clinics competing block by block, under AHPRA advertising rules.
Metro-wide service areas split by the ring roads, with Victorian licence numbers to display.
We check the class-name searches around your studio, audit the profile against your real access hours, and show you where the trial enquiries are going instead.
Foundation is A$990 per location per month, Growth A$1,990 and Authority A$2,990, with a six-month minimum. A studio on Chapel Street and another in Brunswick are two locations, quoted per site. Prices are in Australian dollars and exclude GST; 10% GST is added on the invoice.
Corrected categories and a timetable the profile can show can move a listing within weeks. A top-three place for a crowded class search in the inner south is three to six months. Your rank is checked from a grid of points around the studio and reported monthly, so you can see the gain build.
You need both. The profile gets you on the map, but Google reads your site to confirm the classes, the suburb and the trial offer, and a listing on a booking app does not give it that detail. A page for each class you are known for gives the profile something to point at. Your website stays yours.
Yes. General SEO builds pages that rank anywhere. Local SEO is about being one of three businesses on the map near a searcher, which depends on your Google profile, reviews, hours and listings as much as the site. For a Melbourne studio that is where the trials come from.
Yes. Outer areas like Footscray or Box Hill have a fraction of the well-kept profiles that Chapel Street has, so a corrected listing can move sooner there. We start with the free audit on your suburb, so you see where you rank and the gap to the studios above you before choosing a plan.
